JINJA, UGANDA: Mr. William Kato Kaziba, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Secretary in Jinja district has died, the party authorities announced Wednesday morning.

Mr Kaziba passed away on Tuesday at Nile International Hospital where he was rushed after fainting at his home in Igombe Village, Buwenge Rural Sub-county, Jinja District.

According to Mr. Denis Kamali, the area LC1 chairperson, Kaziba reportedly first got dizzy and was rushed to Buwenge Hospital, before being referred to Nile International Hospital where he was confirmed dead upon arrival.

Mr. Moses Banalya, the Buyengo Town Council NRM chairman, eulogized the deceased as a stronghold cadre who loved his party.

“Prior to his death, Mr Kaziba was an arbiter in numerous problems within the party office and was processing its transfer because it was being accommodated on a building which was taken,’’ Mr Banalya said.

He added: “The deceased was always defending the NRM whenever it was attacked by the Opposition.”

Kaziba has been the Jinja district NRM General Secretary in 2016 until the time of his death.
