RDC Wandera was on Thursday taking over the office of the RDC from Ms. Deborah Mwesigwa Mugerwa who was transferred to Buvuma in the reshuffle which was recently made by the president.

Wandera also during the handover function held at the district council hall requested everyone in Iganga to work with him without any incumbrance.

“I request colleagues whom I have come to work with, heads of departments at the district and other government bodies, to work together and even with opposition to see that Iganga progresses. We want to put Iganga different by improving the welfare of our people in Iganga instead of behaving like other districts which always pull ropes in administering services,” RDC Wandera emphasized.

Wandera, a born of Bugweri district, was working with the Microfinance Support Center (MSC) by last year when he resigned and has ample experience in uplifting the well-being of the people. Therefore, there could be less to worry about him in monitoring government projects which almost deals with people’s well-being.

“People in Iganga should expect much from me because there are different government programs that focus on fighting poverty. That is the system where I have been for close to 30 years while working with organizations that fight poverty and I will try as much as possible to work with others to focus on things that will improve the welfare of people in Busoga and particularly Iganga district,” Wandera said.

However, the outgoing RDC Iganga and now the RDC Buvuma district, Ms. Mugerwa urged people in Iganga to work with the new RDC. She also said that working with the opposition in Iganga is simple than she thought at first while entering the district at the beginning of last year.

“When I was coming to Iganga last year, I didn’t think it was easy to work with the opposition in the district not until I started realizing that they are cooperative and support development. We have our Mayor Iganga, Bamu Lulenzi, and a member of the National Unity Platform and we have been working closely with him for better services to our people so I call upon you to work with everyone without any embedded political difference,” Ms Mugerwa beseeched.

She(Deborah) also appreciated president Museveni for reconsidering her to serve her nation, since some of her colleagues were dropped in the reshuffle.

In a related development, the outgoing Deputy RDC Iganga Ms. Namagogwe Hajjira handed over the office to Mr Ntange Andrew who will serve as deputy RDC Iganga. Ntange, a born of Luuka district has been one of the spokespersons of Busoga Kingdom. Namagogwe, in the recent reshuffle was posted to Butalejja district as full RDC.

Her successor Andrew Ntange says that he will try his best with help of the public to deliver as expected.
“I thank the president for trusting me to come home and do mobilization, let’s see if we can manage to uplift our people from poverty,” Ntange said.
