KAMPALA, UGANDA: The Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Dr Chris Baryomunsi has blasted the Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga for summoning Mr. Nathan Okori, the father of the late speaker Jacob Oulanyah over allegations of his son’s poisoning.

According to Baryomunsi, Mr. Okori needs police counseling as he mourns the death of his son than summoning him for questioning.

“Police should be professional in the way they do their work. Jacob Oulanyah’s father needs counselling to come to terms with the loss of his son, not police summons. At this rate, Fred Enanga may end up summoning Jacob Oulanyah for telling his father that he was poisoned. In our language, “enanga” means a musical instrument, but in this case, I don’t like the music coming out of it,” Dr. Baryomunsi said while addressing the press on Tuesday morning.

Enanga while addressing journalists on Monday, April 11, at Police headquarters in Naguru revealed that Police intend to summon Mzee Nathan Okori, NUP President Bobi Wine, Former Minister and NRM Vice Chairman for Buganda, Mr. Kiwanda Ssuubi, among others over claims that the deceased speaker was poisoned.

Other individuals facing police summons included Minister Baryomunsi, Aruu North MP Santa Okot, Dokolo South Mp Felix Okot Ogong, popular northern Uganda musician Bosmic Otim and unnamed bloggers.

It remained unclear if police intended to summon them as witnesses or suspects, but Dr. Baryomunsi said Enanga and Kiwanda should stop dragging his name in the drama of poison.
“I know Mr Kiwanda appeared on a radio talk show and mentioned my name in his submissions, and I want to warn him and his friend Enanga to stop mixing me in the drama of poison,” he said.

According to Baryomunsi, there is no basis for additional investigations into what killed Oulanyah because the post-mortem findings were conclusive.
