NTOROKO, UGANDA: The minister for local government Hon. Raphael Magyezi has appointed Mr. Charles Otai as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to Ntoroko district pending court charges against the now-jailed CAO Mr. Anslem Kyaligonza.

Kyaligonza was Tuesday this week charged with 10 counts of forgery and remanded to Katojo government prison after appearing before chief magistrate Moses Kule Lubangula in Fort Portal.

Kyaligonza who pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him is being accused of making false documents and issuing appointment letters purporting that the Ntoroko District Service Commission sat and appointed different civil servants to fill different vacancies at the district.

According to Minister Magyezi, the deployment of the new Ntoroko CAO came after the area county MP Hon. Gerald Rwemulikya requested for an interim CAO saying the district was in a difficult position towards the closure of the financial year.

MP Rwemulikya says the district is currently stuck with various contractors without money to embark on works in the district, whereas all employees are stranded without payment hence the need to assign a new C.A.O immediately to restore operationalization of the district.

It is against this background that Magyezi, therefore, accepted and appointed Charles Otai to work as the new Ntoroko CAO Kyaligonza is out of court.

“The purpose of this communication is to inform you that Otai Charles has been deployed to the district as chief administrative officer to handle matters of the district, please give him the necessary support him,” Minister Magyezi’s letter reads in part.
