Thousands converge for Eid-ul-Adha prayers in Iganga as Muslims slaughter animals to mark the day

Muslim faithfuls were urged to always lean their families on Allah with all their love, obedience, fear, and patience especially during trying moments of hardship.

IGANGA, UGANDA: Thousands of believers in the Islamic faith on Saturday gathered for Eid-ul-Adha prayers in Iganga town at Iganga municipal council primary school to commemorate prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah by accepting to sacrifice his son Ismail, an incident which Allah later revised and provided another option.

During Saturday’s Edi prayers which were led by Sheikh Buyinza Muhamud, the Imam Masjid Hamidah- Nabidogha in Iganga town, Muslims were urged to always lean their families on Allah with all their love, obedience, fear, and patience especially during trying moments of hardship.

“Put right your families, if Prophet Ibrahim wasn’t patient, if he wasn’t a person who fears Allah, if he wasn’t a strong man, if he was a person who didn’t love Allah, I tell you that we shouldn’t be gathering here but because he was a person who strongly feared Allah, he persevered and obeyed what Allah ordered him to do and Ibrahim’s determination and strength saved him in such a situation,” said Sheikh Buyinza.

The celebration of Eid-ul-Adha is to commemorate prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah SWT and his readiness to sacrifice his son Ismail. At the very point of sacrifice, Allah SWT replaced Ismail with a ram, which was to be slaughtered in place of his son. This command from SWT was a test of prophet Ibrahim’s willingness and commitment to obey his Lord’s command, without question.
