CORRECTION: Tenants Never Asked NBRB to Assess Structural Integrity of Ham Towers Building

The DailyExpress without empirical evidence and facts stated that some of the traders at the building had expressed concern to NBRB “to assess the defects on the structure and its effect on the safety of the occupants and also to maintain the integrity of the city.”

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The DailyExpress would like to clarify on a story we published alleging that tenants at Ham Towers Building in Makerere wanted the National Building Review Board (NBRB) and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to conduct a structural integrity assessment of building on grounds that it was putting their lives in danger.

In a story dated Friday, August 26, 2022 titled “BIG STORY: Tenants at Ham Towers say they’re living in danger, want NBRB to conduct structural integrity of the building,” the DailyExpress without empirical evidence and facts stated that some of the traders at the building had expressed concern to NBRB “to assess the defects on the structure and its effect on the safety of the occupants and also to maintain the integrity of the city.”

However, we would like to clarify that the information and contents we published in the story above were falsified and upon realizing our mistake, the story has since been unpublished from the website (dailyexpress.co.ug) and all our social media channels.

The DailyExpress has further established that Ham Towers has never been questioned for its status and holds several structural Integrity reports some of which were carried out by KCCA itself on record, and therefore there was no need to cause an alarm for the baseless story we published.
