Ugandan MP who went missing in Nairobi resurfaces in Kampala

NAIROBI, UGANDA: A Ugandan Member of Parliament (MP) of Bukigai County (Bududa District), Hon. David Wakikona who was reported missing in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital has been found alive.

This website on Tuesday morning published a story of how Mr Wakikona, a former minister of state for Trade and industry was missing on Tuesday morning after he boarded an Uber taxi from the Kilimani area to the country’s capital.

However, hours later, the MP himself came out on Tuesday afternoon and confirmed that he was alive, and in Kampala, precisely at parliament.

“I am here [in Kampala], you come to Parliament you will see me,” Mr Wakikona in a brief phone conversation without divulging further details on why he had been reported missing before.

Mr. Andrew Muturu, the OCPD Kilimani Police Division in Kenya confirmed that Mr Wakikona was Tuesday morning found by officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and that he had already travelled back to Uganda as the DCI was conducting a further probe on the matter.

“There was a missing person’s report filed at the police station and the DCI took over the investigations. He was found and has already returned to Uganda,” stated the OCPD stated.

According to the police report filed at the Kilimani police station on October 3, his colleague, Emmanuel Opio noted that the MP had boarded a taxi from a residential area in the upmarket estate to ferry him to the Central Business District (CBD).

Mr Wakikona is said to have been picked up by a vehicle registration number KCS 466G which was being driven by Mr Robert Wang’ombe, police said.

The MP had asked the guard manning the entrance to Samura Court to hail an Uber taxi on his behalf and his destination was to be Tom Mboya Street in Nairobi County.

The MP was in the company of other lawmakers of the Ugandan Parliament who had rented out the apartment during their trip to the country.
