BUGWERI, UGANDA: The woman member of parliament for Bugweri district Hon Racheal Magoola together with her friends of Muslim Aid USA (MAUSA) have commissioned four houses for underprivileged widows so as to improve their standards of living.

Magoola popularly known as Obangaina and serving her first term in parliament says she lobbied four houses from Muslim Aid USA for the most unprivileged widows in the district.

The widows were selected from various parts of the district and they include Ms Nangobi Aisha from Busiimo ‘B’ village in Makuutu Sub-county, Ms Kauma Florence Aida from Bubonghe village in Igombe sub-county, Ms Namukose Joyce from Butende in Busesa town council and Sulait Waiswa Maganda from Bunio village in Namalemba sub-county.

Magoola says that they decided to include divorced Maganda given his disability state with children. Unfortunately, Nangobi Aisha of Busiimo village died before house completion and couldn’t share the joy on the commissioning day.

“We chose the underprivileged widows after finding out that they were worthy helping when we visited their dilapidated houses. We have today commissioned and handed over the houses to them for use and we expect to get more houses as we shall continue identifying the beneficiaries who are underprivileged,” Hon Magoola said before adding that other programs like providing boreholes for clean water, giving out seeds for farming, among others shall also continue.

“I have been struggling to make some bricks for a good house but all in vain, yet my wife divorced after failing to persevere in this bad situation we are living in,” Maganda said.

Meanwhile, the Resident District Commissioner Bugweri district Ms Janet Billy Mulindwa appreciated the government of Uganda for causing peace which has enabled leaders to work closely with NGOs in helping the community.
