ZOMBO, UGANDA: The Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese Rt. Rev. Raphael Wokorach has taken the fight against Disco to students in schools saying this is the right approach to fight against the vice which endangers morals within the society.

The Bishop made the revelation on Thursday during his maiden pastoral visit to Paidha Secondary School where he administered the sacrament of confirmation to over 50 catholic students of the school.

Bishop Wokorach while speaking at the function applauded the different stakeholders for identifying the Disco as a major challenge to young people across the board. He said the vice is one of the bad elements killing the Alur culture and the people fighting it are mindful of the future of the youth.

The man of God added that Jesus preached against anybody who ruins the soul of young people/Children and quoted the scripture, “It would have been better if they put a big stone on his neck and throw him in the water”.

Relatedly, Ringtho Hassan, the Speaker of Zombo district local government said the students should have self-esteem and a positive attitude towards their academic career so as to avoid wasting time on what will not help them in the future,” it’s only you and there is no copy of you.”

This visit is part and parcel of the mandate to supervise the progress and developments of all inventories of the Catholic Diocese of Nebbi not only limited to church structures and resources but also schools, health facilities and so on.

Bishop Wokorach visited three catholic founded schools in Zombo district within a period of six days in the early days of the month of July, starting with St.Aloysious College Nyapea, St.Peter Warr Girls and Paidha Secondary School respectively.
