Zombo, (UG): Residents of Acu Village in Asina parish, Abanga Subcounty in Zombo District were left gripped in acute shock after the secretary of defence for the village LC was mysteriously found dead in his bed on Friday afternoon.
Charles Angeicon, a 37-year-old divorced father of two was found lying lifeless when relatives interested themselves in his whereabouts and forcefully broke into his house.
Preliminary investigations have pointed out the possible cause of death to be suicide by starvation or poisoning but there were hardly any signs and traces of vomit available for justification by press time.
Behind the scenes, DailyExpress has established that the deceased Charles left a suicide note that read “Don’t disturb the three people to whom I sold the family land and my children be prudent of my family.”
The suicide note at most, provides background for preliminary investigations into the reasons that cost the life of the widower.
According to the narrative of the LC1 Chairperson of Acu Village, Mr Benjamin Cirwoth, the deceased had no recurrent infirmities before the day of his demise.
“There was no report about an illness, that’s why we’re all wondering in shock,” said Mr Cirwoth.
The village youth Chairperson, Mr. Donald Kasamba said they forcefully broke and gained access into the house of Charles, just only to find his dead body.
“This is the second case, in which we mysteriously lost a young adult,” Kasamba exclaimed, referring to a similar case in 2022.
Ms Florence Ozelle, the LC2 councillor of Asina parish directed a scathing verbal attack on the reckless and unbearable lifestyles of the youth that is a blemish on the reputation and development of the subcounty.
“The youth are alcoholics, we are losing people who could develop our area and Abanga sub-county, I am deeply hurt,” Ozelle told DailyExpress when contacted for comment.
The youth have become a very threatening social problem in most communities of Uganda with worst-case scenarios in pre-dominantly illiterate societies, where sales of land is a source of income hence sparking conflicts in families and it’s associated fierce co-existence unrest that builds suicidal thoughts and murder in cold blood.
A justification for the more than 5 cases of suicide and murder in Zombo district over about 2 months.
