Inside FUFA’s technical ‘master plan’ to revolutionize Ugandan football

Kampala, (UG): Uganda’s football governing body, FUFA (Federation of Uganda Football Associations) on Tuesday unveiled a Technical Master Plan that aims to revolutionize the football sector in the country and take the national team to greater heights.

The launch of the much-awaited Technical Master Plan took place at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala. 

The prestigious event saw the presence of notable figures, including the esteemed Hon. Magogo Moses Hasim, the historical President of FUFA, and David Katende Semakula, the Assistant General Secretary, alongside several other distinguished delegates.

The commencement of the FUFA Technical Master Plan follows an extensive process of internal formulation and a stakeholders’ Symposium held on 3rd July 2023 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Promising immense possibilities for Ugandan football, the FUFA Technical Master Plan addresses critical areas such as professionalizing club football and planning for life beyond the sport. 

With its mission to promote mass football installation, nurture a high-performance culture, establish a universal playing style for national teams and clubs, and facilitate the integration of Ugandan players into top international leagues, the strategic blueprint ushers in a new era of football development in the country.

Hon. Magogo Moses Hasim, the revered historical President of FUFA, expressed his enthusiasm for the plan, stating, “Football is a trinity. 

“This is the time we are going to address football, the sport. We have excelled in generating money and administration,” said Magogo

His words highlight the plan’s focus on elevating the sport itself, enabling Uganda to achieve long-deserved success.

“We have also done most importantly things that probably may not be as visible. All these things are supposed to be merging at some point,” he added.

“I want to assure you that the moment is now. It can not be better than now for us to go back and look at the sport.”

David Katende Semakula, the Assistant General Secretary, echoed similar sentiments, recognizing the significance of the FUFA Technical Master Plan in driving the sport forward. 

“It gives a reflection of a vision set to be achieved in a number of phases. As government and NCS, it is our hope that it will deliver us to our intended goals. On behalf of NCS, I thank FUFA for transforming the game,” he stated with gratitude.
