She Cranes flagged off to UK for international netball test series

Entebbe, (UG): She Cranes, Uganda’s national netball team Friday left for the United Kingdom where they will engage in a series of international netball test series against the world’s leading netball nations.

The team led by captain Irene Eyaru were enthusiastically flagged off by the Minister of State for Sports, Honorable Peter Ogwang, on Friday afternoon.

The She Cranes upon arrival will start the tour with a game against Wales on January 10, 12, and 13 in Cardiff, followed by the prestigious Vitality Netball Nations Cup, where they will face off against powerhouses Australia, England, and New Zealand.

After securing a fifth-place finish in the recently concluded Netball World Cup in South Africa, the She Cranes, led by coach Fred Mugerwa, are determined to make a mark in the upcoming tournament.

Mugerwa has carefully selected a squad of 13 talented ladies, including professional players Mary Nuba Cholhok and Hanisha Muhameed Nakaate.

England-based Peace Proscovia will serve as the deputy coach, bolstering Uganda’s technical bench.

The tournament, scheduled for two weekends at OVO Arena, Wembley, and First Direct Arena in Leeds, promises high-intensity clashes as the She Cranes aim to upset formidable opponents, including Australia, England, and New Zealand, with the hope of improving their international ranking.

With a $1000 allowance for the tournament, the team is ready to showcase their prowess and bring glory to Uganda on the netball court.

As the She Cranes embark on this thrilling journey, their fixture includes challenging encounters against top teams, setting the stage for an exhilarating competition.
