UPL: FUFA withdraws Arua Hill license, erased from upcoming league fixtures

Kampala, (UG): The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has decided to withdraw the license of Arua Hill, expunging the club from the Uganda Premier League fixture ahead of the second-round kickoff.

The decision comes as a result of Arua Hill’s failure to meet several mandatory club licensing requirements, casting a shadow over their future in both league competitions and the upcoming Stanbic Uganda Cup.

FUFA’s decision, announced on Tuesday, has sent ripples through the football community, raising questions about the club’s standing and potential repercussions for the players, staff, and fans.

Arua Hill, a rising force in Ugandan football, has been a notable contender in the Premier League.

However, their journey takes an unexpected detour as they find themselves omitted from the fixture list for the upcoming league rounds. This comes as a significant blow, especially considering the momentum the team had built in the first round.

Sources within FUFA indicate that the club’s non-compliance with crucial licensing requirements, particularly in the governance aspect, is at the heart of this unprecedented decision.

The ownership structure of Arua Hill seems to be a key point of contention, prompting FUFA to take decisive action to uphold the standards set for football clubs in the country.

Arua Hill, stunned by the sudden turn of events, has the option to appeal FUFA’s decision. The club’s officials are said to be exploring all avenues to present their case and seek a reversal of the license withdrawal. The appeals process adds another layer of uncertainty to Arua Hill’s future in the football landscape.
