Lira, (UG):- Leo Atubo College, a private secondary school located in Ngetta, Lira City East Division which was reportedly struggling has been sold to St Gracious Senior Secondary School, DailyExpress understands.
The college, owned by former Lands Minister, Daniel Omara Atubo, one of the vibrant schools in the Lango sub-region, has been struggling to sustain its brand on the market. It has both an Ordinary and Advanced level of education.
The minister, now former proprietor of the college says he decided to sell it off due to his inexperience and managerial skills that could not allow him to compete in the current education system.
“Performance started to deteriorate leading to low students hence affecting the smooth running of the school. All this was as a result of failure to get good headteachers and teachers and as such I had to let the management to someone else,” said Atubo.
By the time of selling the school, performance for O level and A level had collapsed.
Dr Patrick Olet, who took over the management of Leo Atubu said the school said it will now be named St Gracious – Leo Atubo Campus.
According to Olet, taking up Leo Atubu should send a message to parents that it is meant to improve the education standards of students in the nation.
“There will be no school fees increment but instead removal of other charges which parents have been paying,” Olet assured the parents.
