Kampala, Uganda:- Nation Media Group Uganda (NMG-U) has appointed seasoned media personality Flavia Tumusiime as its new Head of Broadcasting, marking a groundbreaking leadership reshuffle at the country’s leading media house.
Flavia, who boasts over 20 years of experience across TV, radio, and digital platforms, takes over from Johnson Omollo, who exited the Serena-based media house earlier this year. She also becomes the first to hold the post since Agnes Konde’s tenure between 2013 and 2017.
“We’re excited to welcome Flavia Tumusiime as the new head of Broadcasting at Nation Media Group Uganda,” NMG announced on Monday, April 07, 2025.
“Flavia is a seasoned media professional with 22 years of experience across TV, radio, and digital platforms. She brings deep expertise in content strategy, audience engagement, and digital transformation—skills that align perfectly with our vision for the future of broadcast,” the official announcement added.
“Her work across key African markets, including Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa, positions her to lead with insight and innovation. A respected voice in the industry, Flavia’s leadership and passion for impactful storytelling will be a great asset to our team.”
In her new role, Flavia will now oversee the operations and strategic direction of NTV Uganda, Spark TV, KFM, and Dembe FM—the company’s flagship broadcast brands.
Known for her elegance, eloquence, and professionalism, Flavia’s appointment is seen as a bold move by NMG to strengthen its leadership as the leading country’s media powerhouse in an evolving digital-first media environment.
Flavia, now 36, started her media career as a TV host on WBS TV at just 14 years old, where she hosted Teen’s Club. At 18, she moved into radio, beginning with Hot100FM before joining Capital Radio in 2006. After two to three years in radio, Tumusiime moved to Channel O, where she worked for around four years.
In 2015, she joined NMG’s NTV Uganda, where she anchored the news and hosted a morning show. She left the station in May 2021 and has since been hosting Desert Island Discs on Capital FM, after previously hosting a mid-morning show.
She joins the company during a time when it has lost several key presenters and is working to revitalise Dembe FM, which had been temporarily closed.
Many described the move as a “perfect fit” for the future of Ugandan broadcasting, calling Flavia a “trailblazer” and “true industry leader.”
