Vipers draw Kitara, KCCA face Kataka in Stanbic Uganda Cup Semi-finals

Kampala, Uganda: The semi-final fixtures for the 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup were officially confirmed on Monday, April 28, 2025, during a ceremony at Kampala Serena Hotel, setting up thrilling encounters between Uganda’s top sides.

Cup holders Kitara FC face a stern test against league leaders Vipers SC, with the first leg to be played at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. In the other semi-final, ten-time champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) will host Big League side Kataka FC.

The two-legged semi-finals are scheduled to be played on May 3rd and 4th, with the return legs on May 17th and 18th.

KCCA head coach Jackson Magera, Kataka’s Godfrey Awachango, and Kitara’s Wasswa Bbosa witnessed the draw, with all teams expressing determination to reach the final.

Kitara earned their spot in the last four after edging BUL FC 1-0 in a tense quarter-final clash, a match that saw three players sent off. Defender Arthur Kiggundu scored the crucial goal.

While Kataka continued their fairytale run with a 3-0 penalty shootout victory over Police FC after a goalless draw in the quarterfinal. Earlier, the FUFA Big League side had stunned top-flight side URA FC in the round of 16, also through a penalty shootout.

On the other hand, Vipers secured their semi-final ticket after a dramatic 1-0 win over rivals SC Villa, with substitute Milton Karisa scoring a last-minute header to seal the victory.

The grand finale of the 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup will take place at the newly inaugurated Kadiba Stadium in Kampala.

First played in 1971, the Stanbic Uganda Cup remains the country’s most prestigious knockout football competition.
