Namayingo, Uganda: Buyinja Health Centre IV, the only referral health facility in Namayingo District, has registered a significant turnaround in service delivery, thanks to continuous monitoring by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Coordinators and new leadership at the facility.
The steady progress follows intensified oversight efforts initiated by ONC Coordinators back in 2023, aimed at addressing longstanding service delivery gaps.
The momentum was further boosted by the appointment of Dr. Kaluba Charles as the acting in-charge, a change that has since seen a noticeable rise in patient numbers, signaling renewed community trust in the facility.
The sharp increase in patient attendance, however, has presented new challenges. With limited space and resources, the health centre’s small wards are struggling to accommodate the influx.
In some cases, mothers are forced to sleep on the floor due to a shortage of beds, highlighting the urgent need for expanded infrastructure.
District leaders have played a very crucial role in supporting the ongoing improvements at Buyinja Health Centre IV, working hand-in-hand with the health workers to enhance service delivery. This has been evident with the changed attitude of health personnel for the better, with staff now demonstrating greater commitment, professionalism, and responsiveness to patient needs.

On Monday, April 28, the District ONC Coordinator, Mr Muteguya Denis, visited the facility to assess the current situation and follow up on earlier concerns raised by the community.
Muteguya’s visit reaffirmed the NRM National Chairman’s commitment to ensuring that Buyinja HC IV remains a reliable healthcare provider for the people of Namayingo District.
