“I’m Ready to Die for Peace” – Museveni’s iron lady to Bobi Wine on NUP protest votes

Kampala, Uganda: The Senior Presidential Advisor and Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has declared herself “a sacrificial lamb” in defence of Uganda’s peace and stability amid escalating protest calls by the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) both at home and abroad.

Speaking to the media on Monday at the ONC offices in Kyambogo, Namyalo, popularly known as the Chief Muzzukulu, launched a blistering attack on what she termed as “toxic and deceptive politics” propagated by NUP, warning that the so-called “Protest Vote” campaign is endangering lives and misleading Uganda’s youth into deadly confrontations with security forces.

“The so-called Protest Vote campaign is not only misleading but dangerous. It is designed to incite violence and push innocent youths into confrontations that threaten their lives and the country’s stability,” she said, adding that Ugandan can’t be “governed on concocted human intelligence”

Namyalo’s remarks come days after renewed waves of NUP-led protests both within Uganda and by diaspora groups in cities like London, Boston, and Brussels, calling for international sanctions and mobilizing against what they call state repression and electoral injustice.

Videos of Ugandans waving placards, storming embassies, and chanting anti-Museveni slogans have gone viral on social media, adding to the pressure cooker at home.

But Namyalo insists these protests serve foreign interests and risk dragging Uganda into anarchy. “You may think it’s harmless to chant and demonstrate abroad, but when those emotions are imported here and used to radicalize our youth, we pay with blood,” she cautioned.

In a defiant tone, Namyalo dared both opposition bloggers and saboteurs within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) who she claims are scheming against her leadership. “I am ready to face abuse, insults, or any kind of attack, but I will not be silenced. I am a sacrifice for Uganda’s continued peace and stability,” she declared.

Hailing President Yoweri Museveni as a symbol of regional stability, Namyalo reaffirmed ONC’s ongoing campaigns like “Jajja Tova Ku Main” and “Museveni is the Best”, vowing to resist all attempts to derail what she calls Uganda’s tested and trusted leadership.

“Even in countries like the United States, where presidents change often, there’s no guarantee of peace or prosperity. Let’s not gamble with our future,” she said.

Namyalo also warned youths loyal to NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, that many of their peers are either languishing in prison or have lost opportunities due to protest politics.

“Don’t be used as pawns. These leaders calling for protests are safe in their homes or abroad. It is you who faces the bullet,” she warned.

Namyalo concluded the presser to pay tribute to the late businessman Rajiv Ruparelia, mourning his tragic death, which she said is a reminder of the fragility of life and the need to focus on peace-building.
