Mbale, Uganda: The Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among is expected to officiate as Chief Guest at the forthcoming Oluhuje festival, a major cultural reunion of the Banyole community in the diaspora, set for Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Nakaloke Playgrounds in Mbale Northern City Division.
The event, organized by Banyole natives living outside Butaleja District, is being spearheaded by Mr. Kadimba Hussein, Assistant Resident District Commissioner and Eastern Region President of the Banyole in the diaspora.
Oluhuje aims to celebrate unity, identity, and cultural pride among the Banyole scattered across the country and beyond.
Speaking during a mobilization breakfast on Tuesday, May 5, hosted at the Bugema home of Hon. Yusuf Mutembuli (MP, Bunyole East), Kadimba said preparations were in high gear and that the festival would feature cultural exhibitions, live performances, and community bonding.
“This Oluhuje is all about unity, getting to know one another, and sharing a meal,” Kadimba said, after receiving UGX 1 million in support from Hon. Mutembuli, who commended the team for promoting the Lunyole language and the cultural relevance of the Banyole people.
Earlier, the organizing team received UGX 3 million from Counsel Paul Mugoya Wanyoto, an aspiring MP for Mbale Northern City Division, who pledged further support. “I may not say much, but I am a man of action,” Wanyoto said. “I will attend the event in person and come with more gifts.”
Kadimba confirmed that entertainers from across Eastern Uganda have been invited, with the Speaker of Parliament’s presence signaling national recognition of the Banyole community’s cultural footprint.
