Kamuli, Uganda: The Chief Political Commissar of the Uganda Police Force, AIGP Bamunoba Ubaldo, has urged police commanders in the Busoga North region to prioritize service delivery, respect the communities they serve, and uphold the mandate of protecting people and property.

Speaking during a rectification campaign and a regional baraza held at Kamuli Youth Centre in Kamuli Municipality, AIGP Bamunoba called on the Regional Police Commander (RPC) and his entire team to lead by example and maintain professionalism at all levels of policing.

“I appeal to the police commanders of Busoga North, the RPC and his entire team, to ensure they deliver as expected, respect the people we serve, and remember that the wanainchi deserve better services. Our mandate is to protect them and their property,” he said.

He further warned officers against corruption, emphasizing that it has no place in the Uganda Police Force. “Let us work hard for the people, be diligent, and completely avoid corruption. We must build trust with the public,” AIGP Bamunoba added.

Busoga North Police, with a manpower strength of 481 officers, has recently faced gaps due to retirements.

However, AIGP Bamunoba reassured the commanders that new Police Probationer Constables (PPCs) who passed out from Kabalye Police Training School are already being deployed across the country to fill such gaps.

As Uganda heads into the 2026 general elections, Bamunoba emphasized the rollout of the Sub-county Policing Model, an initiative guided by the President and implemented nationwide by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

“Every sub-county is getting 18 police officers, motorcycles, counter phones, and fully equipped police posts. These officers will help maintain law and order from the grassroots, especially as we prepare for the upcoming elections,” he said.

Bamunoba’s visit to Busoga North follows similar engagements in other regions, including Lwengo, Greater Bushenyi, and Greater Masaka, as part of an ongoing nationwide assessment of police performance, readiness, and community engagement.
