Naples, Italy: SSC Napoli clinched their fourth Serie A title on Friday night after a 2-0 home victory over Cagliari saw them edge defending champions Inter Milan by a single point in a dramatic final day of the Italian top-flight season.

The result not only secured Napoli’s second Scudetto in three years but also wrote a new chapter in Italian football history for head coach Antonio Conte, who became the first manager to win Serie A with three different clubs: Juventus, Inter Milan, and now Napoli.

Napoli entered the final round leading Inter by one point and needed a win to reclaim the title. Inter appeared to tighten their grip early with a 20th-minute goal against Como.

But the pendulum swung when former Man United midfielder Scott McTominay volleyed Napoli ahead in the 42nd minute, before Romelu Lukaku doubled the lead six minutes into the second half, sealing a famous night at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Conte’s triumph caps a stunning turnaround after Napoli’s 10th-place finish last season, one of the worst title defences in Serie A history. Under his leadership, the side rediscovered its dominance despite the departure of key stars like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG and Victor Osimhen on loan to Galatasaray.

The former Chelsea and Juventus boss built a team anchored by a resurgent Lukaku and midfield powerhouse McTominay, with Napoli boasting the league’s most formidable defence.

Napoli’s domestic focus, having missed out on European competition and exited the Coppa Italia early, gave them a crucial advantage over Inter, who must now regroup ahead of their UEFA Champions League final against PSG on May 31.

Conte, 55, previously won three consecutive titles with Juventus (2011–2014) and ended Inter’s 11-year wait in 2021. This triumph, however, may rank as his most impressive, resurrecting a fractured squad into Italian champions once again.
