London, United Kingdom: The curtains came down on the 2024/25 Premier League season on Sunday, May 25, with drama across all 10 stadiums as Liverpool sealed their 20th title, Nottingham Forest stunned critics with a European finish, yet all three promoted teams were sent straight back to the Championship.

Champions Liverpool ended their campaign with a rusty 1–1 draw against Crystal Palace at Anfield, where Mohamed Salah bagged his 29th goal of the season to claim the Golden Boot and match Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer for the all-time record for goal involvements in a single campaign (47). The visitors had stunned the home crowd through Ismaïla Sarr’s ninth-minute opener before Salah equalised in the 84th minute.

Andrew Cole managed 47 involvements in the 1993-94 season for Newcastle United (34 goals, 13 assists), before Alan Shearer repeated the feat in 1994-95 for Blackburn Rovers (also 34 goals, 13 assists). However, both achieved those totals in 42-game seasons before the Premier League was reduced to just 20 teams ahead of the 1995-96 campaign.

In other final day fixtures, Arsenal clinched second place after a nervy 2–1 win over already-relegated Southampton, while Manchester City took third with a 2–0 win against Fulham at the Etihad, Ilkay Gündogan scoring a spectacular overhead kick and Erling Haaland converting from the spot.

Chelsea secured fourth and a Champions League berth thanks to a narrow 1–0 win over Nottingham Forest, who, despite the loss, finished seventh to book a spot in the Europa Conference League, capping off a remarkable campaign under Nuno Espírito Santo.

Manchester United’s 2–0 victory over Aston Villa denied the Villans a top-four finish, pushing them into the Europa League. Newcastle United, despite losing 1–0 to Everton, secured fifth place and a Champions League return due to Villa’s slip-up.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur wrapped up a frustrating domestic campaign with a 4–1 defeat to Brighton, but their Europa League triumph earlier in the week sealed their qualification to Europe’s elite competition, the UCL.
