Kampala, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni, through his Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), today flagged off a nationwide food distribution drive targeting thousands of Muslims across the country ahead of this year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations.
Flagged off at the ONC headquarters in Kyambogo, the campaign spearheaded by Senior Presidential Advisor Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo builds on a strong tradition of Eid relief support spearheaded by the office in recent years, with the initial phase focused on the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
This year, the campaign has been boosted by the donation of hundreds of cattle and food packages from well-wishers and supporters of Jajja Wabazzukulu President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Speaking to the media shortly after flagging off the drive, Hajjat Namyalo said the meat and food items will be distributed to vulnerable Muslims across the country, effective tomorrow, starting with Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono.
“We are giving back in the spirit of Eid Adhuha, which is about sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood. All these cows will be slaughtered and their meat shared with our Muslim brothers and sisters who might not afford to slaughter for themselves,” the ONC boss noted, adding that the food packages comprising rice, posho, spaghetti, sugar, milk, and cooking oil will be distributed from various mosques.
“We are not stopping in Kampala. After the metropolitan areas, we are moving to districts like Mbarara, Lira, Mbale, and Tororo. The Bazzukulu of Jajja Museveni must feel loved and supported wherever they are,” she added.

The ONC-led initiative is part of broader efforts by the office to uphold social welfare and community engagement under the NRM’s mass mobilization framework.
In past campaigns, ONC has collaborated with local leaders and mosque imams to ensure transparency and equitable distribution of aid during Islamic holy periods like Ramadan and Eid. Previous similar campaigns have seen thousands of Muslim households benefit from Qurbani meat, sugar, rice, and other essentials in areas such as Arua, Iganga, Masaka, and Mbale.
