Lugogo, Uganda: Kampala Queens FC were Tuesday officially crowned champions of the 2024/2025 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League, capping off a dominant campaign with a 1-1 draw against She Maroons FC at the MTN Phillip Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
Although they had sealed the title two weeks ago with three games to spare, Tuesday’s result marked the official end of their dominant season, thanks to a first-half penalty converted by league MVP Shamirah Nalugya, who gave the Queens the lead before Phionah Atono equalized for She Maroons in the second half.
Under the guidance of Ethiopian head coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal, Kampala Queens lost just once and drew 7 times in the 22 league matches, underlining their superiority in Ugandan women’s football.
“This title means everything. It’s a result of planning, resilience, and teamwork. To go the whole season unbeaten is special,” said Coach Asefa.
Individual Awards
The Queen’s star of the day, Shamirah Nalugya, was named the league’s Most Valuable Player following her consistent performances and leadership in midfield throughout the campaign.

Resty Kobusobozi of Lady Doves won the Golden Boot after netting 17 goals this season, while her club also took home the Fair Play Award.
Daisy Nakaziro was recognized as the Goalkeeper of the Season.
Trophy Ceremony

The title ceremony was presided over by FUFA’s 3rd Vice President, Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, and officials from the Uganda Women Football Association and Finance Trust Bank, the league’s title sponsor.
“Kampala Queens have raised the standard of women’s football in Uganda. We are proud to be associated with this growth,” said Nakiwala during the presentation.
Kampala Queens’ triumph marks a new chapter in the history of women’s football in Uganda, as they become the first team to complete a full Super League season without defeat under the current format.
