Namisindwa, Uganda: Elgon-based Journalist and district youth councillor, Emma Bwayo, has officially been nominated to contest for the LC5 Chairperson seat in Namisindwa District under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Bwayo, who currently serves as the Male Youth Councillor for Namisindwa, was nominated on Monday morning at the NRM headquarters in Kyadondo, Kampala, by the party’s Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr Tanga Odoi.
During the nomination, Dr Odoi urged all aspirants to adhere to the party’s electoral guidelines and national laws as they campaign for positions in the 2026 elections.
“We expect all candidates to follow the rules and respect the integrity of the party’s internal processes,” Dr Odoi emphasized.
In his post-nomination remarks, Bwayo pledged to champion integrity, accountability, and inclusive service delivery if elected district chairperson.
“My priorities are promoting value for money in public service, career development and youth empowerment, equitable access to services, and the fight against corruption,” he told reporters.
Bwayo’s entry into the LC5 race signals a growing trend of youth leaders transitioning into mainstream district leadership roles, especially in hard-to-reach areas like Namisindwa.
Other NRM candidates from Namisindwa who were nominated on the same day include Khalayi Peace for Woman Member of Parliament, and two aspirants for Bubulo East constituency, Wakama James and Masibo Amos.
NRM nominations for all elective positions remain ongoing and are scheduled to close on June 30.
