Doha, Qatar: The Embassy of Uganda in Qatar hosted a successful tourism and cultural expo in Doha, pitching the country’s rich heritage and iconic attractions to over 200 Qatari stakeholders and global partners.

Held at the prestigious Pullman Hotel, the Uganda Tourism and Cultural Expo 2025 showcased the Pearl of Africa’s potential as a premier destination for adventure, eco, faith-based, and cultural tourism. The event attracted Qatari travel agents, investors, government officials, diplomatic corps members, the Ugandan diaspora, and 23 Destination Management Companies (DMCs) from Uganda.

Ambassador Elly Kamahungye, representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officiated the Expo and emphasized Uganda’s readiness to engage strategically with the Qatari market. He cited tourism as a cornerstone of Uganda’s economic transformation agenda.

Uganda’s Ambassador to Qatar, H.E. Stephen Chebrot, described the Expo as a gateway for deeper bilateral tourism cooperation and stronger people-to-people exchanges.

“This is our call to the Qatari market – explore Uganda as a true gem for tourism. Whether it’s gorilla trekking in Bwindi, rafting on the Nile, or retracing the spiritual journey of the Uganda Martyrs, Uganda has it all,” said Ambassador Chebrot.

The Expo included a powerful cultural display, featuring traditional Ugandan music and dance performances, craft exhibitions, and culinary experiences that gave attendees a taste of Uganda’s authenticity.

Delegates also hosted a B2B networking session, where over 50 Qatari travel agents held face-to-face engagements with Ugandan tour operators.

The Embassy said the Doha Expo is part of a broader Gulf-region strategy aimed at diversifying Uganda’s tourism markets and attracting high-value visitors.

Representatives of Uganda’s private sector expressed optimism about the potential of the Qatari market, hailing the Embassy’s role in expanding Uganda’s global tourism footprint.

The Uganda Tourism and Cultural Expo in Doha is part of a wider Gulf-region strategy to diversify Uganda’s tourism markets and attract high-value travelers. It builds on the Embassy’s ongoing initiatives to market Uganda as an authentic, safe, and unforgettable destination.
