Kampala, Uganda: Famed Capital FM radio presenter Lucky Mbabazi has urged Ugandans, especially young people, to adopt simple habits of gratitude and self-belief as a way of navigating life’s daily challenges.
Speaking to her social media followers, Mbabazi cautioned that unchecked negative thoughts often drain self-worth and peace of mind. She said this inner criticism is among the hidden triggers of depression, anxiety, and in extreme cases, suicide.
“Nothing robs you of your peace of mind like those negative thoughts you have about yourself. Thinking that everyone around you is enough except you,” Mbabazi noted.
“That failure mentality will break you always. But the beauty about it is that you can channel those negative thoughts into positive ones.”
The veteran radio host, known for her uplifting segments on Capital FM, explained that practicing patience and learning to appreciate even small achievements can gradually transform one’s mindset.
“Try showing gratitude and appreciating even the smallest of things that are going right in life, while at the same time you figure out what needs to be done to fix the ones that are heading south,” she advised.
“Some of the challenges you may have can only be fixed with time, and the trick here is in patience and what you do while you wait.”
Lucky’s message comes at a time when mental health challenges have become a growing concern among Uganda’s youth, many of whom grapple with unemployment, financial pressures, and limited psychosocial support.
