Western Uganda: Joram Ampuriire Mpairwe, a dynamic leader from Kiruhura District and one of the leading candidates in the forthcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries for Western Uganda Youth Member of Parliament, has unveiled a bold, purpose-driven campaign pledging transformative youth empowerment and authentic representation.
Ampuriire, a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Computing from Makerere University and a youth advocate with over five years of experience working with various youth organizations, spoke at a recent mobilization event in Western Uganda.
“Our campaign is not built on promises; it’s built on purpose,” he declared. “Young people must not only be seen; they must be heard and given the trust to shape the future of our country.”
A Vision for Youth Empowerment
Ampuriire’s five-point mission aims to overhaul how youth engagement is conceived within the NRM and across government institutions. His key pledges include:
- Establishing a National Youth Bank, a transparent, youth-friendly platform to manage and disburse all funds, grants, and donations targeting young Ugandans.
- Advocating for genuine youth inclusion in all government programs and decision-making spaces.
- Launching national orientation programs that foster leadership, patriotism, Pan-Africanism, and mindset transformation.
- Strengthening and financially empowering NRM Youth League structures to remain active and accountable.
- Expanding equal access to scholarships, employment, and hands-on skills development, especially targeting rural youth.

A Call for Consultative Leadership
Mpairwe’s message resonated with attendees, many of whom expressed frustration at feeling sidelined in government programs. “Young people are tired of empty words. They want leaders who walk with them every step of the way,” he said.
Reactions from the public
“We need leaders like Mpairwe who understand our struggles and are willing to fight for our rights,” said Kaahwa Ritah, a 22-year-old university student who attended the mobilization event.
Dr. Mpaata a lecturer at Makerere University and a political analyst noted that Mpairwe’s candidature reflects a growing trend among young NRM aspirants eager to redefine the party’s engagement with Uganda’s youthful population.
“Many young leaders are no longer satisfied with token representation. They are demanding systems that deliver real economic empowerment,” he said.
With his fresh perspective and commitment to youth empowerment, his campaign is gaining momentum in Western Uganda. Will his vision for a National Youth Bank and inclusive leadership resonate with voters?
