Speaker Among’s Bukedea Comprehensive registers multiple AAAs in 2025 UACE

Bukedea Comprehensive School founded by Speaker Anita Among recorded outstanding performance in the 2025 UACE exams, with several students scoring AAA combinations and top 20-point results.

Bukedea, Uganda: Bukedea Comprehensive School, founded by Speaker of Parliament and District Woman MP, Rt Hon Anita Annet Among, registered outstanding performance in the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations, with several candidates scoring top grades, including multiple AAA combinations.

The release of the national examination results on Friday sparked celebrations across the school’s Northern and Southern campuses, as students, teachers, parents and support staff gathered to witness the announcement.

Jonas Gumisiriza, the resident director, described the celebrations as overwhelming. “Everyone was glued to the television as the results were announced. Immediately after, the Director of Studies and the head teacher downloaded the results and the excitement became uncontrollable,” he said.

“The most impossible task in society is controlling an excited person because the dopamine hormone that sparks excitement and pleasure reaches extreme levels,” Dr Gumisiriza added.

According to school administrators, the institution’s strong performance was particularly notable in science subjects, which they attributed to experienced teachers and well-equipped laboratories.

“It is our first time registering two candidates scoring 20 points. I really give applause to the executive director for ensuring these dream achievements,” Gumisiriza noted.

The school’s academic performance has also attracted learners from across the country, leading to expansion into two campuses—North and South—to accommodate growing enrolment.

2025 UACE Results breakdown

Geno John said all candidates passed the examinations, with the lowest performer obtaining six points, which still qualifies for admission to some university courses.

Mathematics emerged as the best-performing subject. “Eighty-eight candidates scored As in Mathematics, 166 got Bs, and only seven got Cs,” Geno said. Overall results included: 162 As, 242 Bs, 136 Cs, 18 Ds, 211 Es and 221 Os.

He added that 32 students scored between 18 and 20 points, while 96 candidates obtained between 15 and 17 points.

The school’s head teacher, Nadanga Enoch, said the institution has previously celebrated success in sports and academics, but this year’s UACE results were particularly special.

Despite being located in a rural area, Nadanga said the school has steadily competed with some of the most established schools in Kampala.

“The commitment of teachers and ensuring that learners understand the school’s vision and objectives from day one has helped us compete with traditional schools,” Nadanga explained.

Among the top performers was Andera Jessica Lilian, who scored 20 points with AAA in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and a distinction in ICT.

“Our teachers encouraged us to work hard and gave us their time. The administration and our executive director Mama Anita Among mentored us and supported us throughout,” Andera said.

Another top achiever, Enryenyu Santos, also scored 20 points and urged current candidates to remain disciplined. “This two-year course requires sacrifice. You must put aside anything that may interfere with your studies,” he advised.

Other high-performing candidates included Ivan Brian Kedi, who scored 18 points in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).

Meanwhile, current Senior Six candidates such as Adeke Esther Patience said the results have set a high standard for the next class. “For us to uphold this legacy, we must register even more students scoring 20 points,” she said.

Teachers also praised the school’s management for consistently supporting academic programmes and providing the resources needed for effective teaching.
