Kampala, Uganda: Uganda’s U-17 Women’s national team will be aiming to complete the job against Zimbabwe in the return leg of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers this Saturday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

The Teen Cranes carry a 2-0 aggregate advantage into the decisive second leg after a commanding first-leg victory in Harare, thanks to goals from Immaculate Acen and Lydia Namaseruka.

Despite the advantage, Uganda’s technical bench has cautioned that the tie is far from over, with Zimbabwe expected to push aggressively in search of a comeback.

Uganda will rely on a blend of defensive discipline and attacking efficiency to protect their lead.

Key players expected to feature prominently include midfielders Tracy Nabalanzi and Esther Namatovu, alongside the attacking duo.

What’s at stake

A positive result will see Uganda advance to the next qualification round, where they will face either Kenya or Namibia.

The qualifiers, featuring 31 teams across Africa, are being played over three knockout rounds, with only four teams set to qualify for the tournament and join hosts Morocco.

Several teams have already progressed to the next stage, including Liberia, South Africa, and DR Congo, following withdrawals by Libya, Djibouti, and Central African Republic.

From the CECAFA region, countries such as Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Djibouti are also competing for a place at the global showpiece.
