Manafwa, Uganda: The Umukuka of Bugisu, Jude Mike Mudoma III, is set to meet more than 100 clan chairpersons from Manafwa, Namisindwa, and Bududa districts in a high-level cultural engagement ahead of the upcoming Imbalu circumcision season.

According to Bukuka spokesperson Steven Masiga, the meeting scheduled for today (Thursday) will bring together clan leaders and their executives to discuss key cultural matters and preparations for the traditional Imbalu ritual.

“The Umukuka will engage with clan chairpersons on cultural issues and also brief the entire clan executive on the upcoming Imbalu programme and related protocols,” Masiga said.

Each clan will be represented by a seven-member executive led by the chairperson, underscoring the scale and importance of the engagement.

The meeting is expected to centre on harmonising cultural practices, reinforcing protocol, and ensuring coordinated mobilisation across the Bugisu sub-region ahead of the Imbalu season.

Masiga noted that the engagement will include leaders from three districts, reflecting a broader effort to strengthen cultural unity and consistency in the conduct of the ritual.

Following the Manafwa meeting, the Umukuka’s delegation will proceed with additional consultations involving Wanale and Mwambu clan leadership.

Meetings for the Mwambu clan are expected to be held in either Sironko or Bulambuli districts, depending on guidance from clan leaders, while Wanale clan engagements will take place in Mbale District.

These consultations aim to deepen community participation and ensure that all cultural stakeholders are aligned ahead of the ceremonial activities.

Preparations for the engagement have already begun, with the Umukuka’s delegation holding a preliminary planning meeting with Manafwa District leadership.
