Kampala, Uganda: The Senior Presidential Advisor and Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has called on Ugandans to rally behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of his swearing-in for a seventh elective term, scheduled for May 12, 2026, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
Speaking during a press briefing to launch ONC mobilisation activities, Namyalo described Museveni as a central figure in Uganda’s peace, stability, and socio-economic transformation, urging citizens to turn up in large numbers for what she termed a historic national event.
“As we gather for a common cause, to launch the newly elected President, the grandfather of this nation, we recognise his role in ensuring that Ugandans are well catered for, that peace and stability are maintained, and that the country continues on its path toward middle-income status,” she said.
The Chief Muzzukulu characterised the recent election as a “spiritual vote” and called for unity and participation across the country. “We call upon all Ugandans to join us. While there may be areas where people feel more needs to be done, we remain committed to engaging His Excellency and demanding further progress,” Namyalo added.

The May 12 ceremony at Kololo is expected to draw thousands of Ugandans, alongside regional leaders, diplomats, and international guests, in what will mark Museveni’s seventh term since the reintroduction of multi-party elections in 1996.
State functions at Kololo traditionally feature military parades, cultural displays, oath-taking before the Chief Justice, and a presidential address outlining the roadmap for the new administration. Security is also expected to be heightened, with multiple agencies coordinating to ensure a smooth event.
The 7th term swearing-in will formally usher in a new five-year term (2026–2031), widely viewed as a defining phase for Uganda’s economic transition, particularly as the country edges closer to oil production and deeper industrialisation.
Focus shifts to new Kisanja priorities
Hajjat Namyalo said the new Kisanja will focus on strengthening the implementation of key government programmes, particularly the Parish Development Model, which remains central to the government’s wealth-creation agenda.

“We must uplift the Parish Development Model and enhance implementation of national development programmes to achieve the goals Ugandans have long aspired to,” she said.
She added that the new term will prioritise improving livelihoods through better health systems, increased household incomes, and stronger monitoring of government programmes.
“This Kisanja will prioritise promoting good health, creating wealth, and strengthening the monitoring and implementation of our manifesto and existing government programmes,” Namyalo noted.

Key areas expected to dominate the seventh term include;
- Wealth creation and household income growth through PDM and agricultural value chains
- Oil and gas production, with Uganda approaching first oil, expected to boost revenues and infrastructure investment
- Industrialisation and job creation, particularly for the youth population
- Infrastructure expansion, including roads, energy, and market access
- Digital transformation, aimed at improving service delivery and economic participation
Namyalo emphasised that development must go beyond infrastructure to directly impact livelihoods. “We want to see improved schools, better welfare for our children, and functional infrastructure. However, roads alone are not enough, people must also have food. We need strong markets for our products and a reliable agricultural system,” she said.
While rallying support, Namyalo also highlighted the need for continued citizen engagement and accountability in the new term, noting that mobilisation structures like ONC will remain active in monitoring government programmes. “After the swearing-in, we shall continue to hold leadership accountable for the promises made,” she said.
Hajjat also conveyed prayers and well wishes to the President and First Lady, expressing hope for continued leadership. “We pray for the Almighty Allah to grant His Excellency long life and good health, alongside Maama, so that he continues to guide the country without distraction,” she added.

As preparations intensify, the Chief Muzzukulu has urged Ugandans from all regions to attend the swearing-in ceremony and be part of what she described as a defining national moment. “We call upon all Ugandans to be part of this historic moment and ensure the President is sworn in,” she said.
