Kampala, Uganda: Business magnate, Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has been named Uganda Property Development Champion for 2025–2026 after winning the Responsible Investment Global Award, in recognition of his influence in transforming the country’s real estate sector.
The award, conferred by Public Opinions, highlights Ruparelia’s contribution to sustainable and innovative property development, positioning him among leading figures shaping Uganda’s economic landscape.
Ruparelia, who also serves as Nepal’s Honorary Consul to Uganda, has built one of the country’s largest private investment portfolios spanning real estate, hospitality, education, and agriculture. His flagship properties include Kabira Country Club and Speke Resort Munyonyo, which have become key landmarks in Uganda’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
Organisers noted that his investments reflect a growing shift toward modern, sustainable urban development, as Uganda’s property sector records an estimated annual growth rate of about 8 percent, driven by urbanisation, infrastructure expansion, and increased demand for commercial and industrial spaces.
Ruparelia has also been inducted into the 2025–2026 Uganda Development Champions Hall of Fame and is set to feature in the 2026 Public Opinions Journal for Certified Development Champions and Responsible Investments.

He joins a select group of national figures recognised for driving development, including President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Diana Atwine, and Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba, among others.
The recognition comes at a time when Uganda’s economy continues to expand, with GDP estimated at over Shs226 trillion (approximately $61 billion) and improvements recorded across key sectors including infrastructure, health, and digital connectivity.
Analysts say the growth of the real estate sector—alongside rising electricity access, expanding road networks, and increased internet penetration—has created new opportunities for investment, with private sector players like Ruparelia playing a central role.
Beyond business, Ruparelia’s ventures have contributed to employment creation and urban transformation, reinforcing the importance of private investment in Uganda’s long-term development agenda under Vision 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
His latest recognition further cements his position as one of Uganda’s most influential investors, with a footprint that continues to shape the country’s economic and urban future.
