President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, during the officiation of the International Labour Day celebrations, highlighted the significance of Uganda’s abundant resources, particularly land. The President urged citizens to wake up and utilise land to create wealth.
“Uganda has 40 million acres of land suitable for farming. If only 7 million acres are utilised, they could create up to 105 million jobs, more than the country’s current population,” he said.
I commend the President for opening our eyes to the country’s economic potential, especially the role of land in improving productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

According to President Museveni’s projection, the economic value of 7 million acres demonstrates that if our land is put to maximum use, the full 40 million acres could create up to 600 million jobs.
This clearly shows that Uganda is endowed with enormous agrarian potential, supported by abundant sunshine and favourable climatic conditions that enable the growth of a wide range of crops throughout the year, justifying its status as the Pearl of Africa.
Reliable reports from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) suggest that Uganda’s fertile land has the capacity to feed up to 200 million people, positioning the country as a potential regional food basket and a key contributor to continental food security.
Long live General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
