Kampala, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni Thursday held a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the Inspectorate of Government as part of renewed efforts to intensify the fight against corruption in his new term of office.
The meeting was attended by Inspector General of Government Lady Justice Aisha Batala Naluzze, alongside Deputy Inspector Generals of Government Anne Twino Muhairwe and Dr Patricia Achan Okiria.
According to sources familiar with the engagement, discussions centred on strengthening the fight against corruption in line with President Museveni’s commitments made during his recent swearing-in address.
The President re-emphasised his administration’s determination to eliminate corruption and ensure greater accountability in public institutions during what he has described as the “Kisanja No Sleep” term.
Museveni has repeatedly warned public officials against misuse of government resources, arguing that corruption undermines service delivery, slows economic transformation and frustrates citizens seeking public services.
The meeting comes amid increasing public pressure on government institutions to intensify anti-corruption enforcement and hold accountable officials implicated in abuse of office, theft of public funds and procurement irregularities.
The Inspectorate of Government remains one of Uganda’s key constitutional bodies mandated to investigate corruption, enforce the Leadership Code and promote accountability within public service.
