Katakwi, Uganda: The administration of Katakwi High School has dismissed reports of a student strike, assuring parents, guardians, and stakeholders that learning activities are continuing uninterrupted and that the situation at the school remains calm.
In a statement issued on Monday, the school’s Head Teacher, Mr Joseph Opule, said reports circulating about a strike were inaccurate, explaining that what occurred was an attempted disruption involving a small group of students allegedly working with external collaborators.
According to the school administration, the situation was quickly detected and contained before it could affect normal school operations.
“The situation is completely normal. No harm or injury has been reported to any student or staff member, and all students remain at school as learning continues as scheduled,” Mr. Opule said.
The head teacher commended the school’s management team and security personnel for their swift intervention, which he said helped maintain calm and order within the institution.
He emphasized that the incident did not escalate into a full-scale strike and had no significant impact on classroom activities, examinations, or other school programmes.
Mr. Opule further reassured parents that Katakwi High School remains committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment for all learners.
“Our priority remains the welfare of our students and the delivery of quality education. We shall not allow any form of external interference to derail our educational mission,” he stated.
The school administration also urged parents and members of the public to disregard unverified information circulating on social media and instead rely on official communication from the institution.
Parents with concerns were encouraged to contact school authorities directly for accurate updates regarding their children and school operations.
The development comes at a time when schools across the country continue to strengthen measures aimed at maintaining discipline, student welfare, and effective learning environments.
Katakwi High School, one of the leading secondary schools in the Teso sub-region, has built a reputation for academic excellence and student discipline over the years.
School leaders say efforts remain focused on improving academic performance, nurturing responsible citizens, and providing learners with opportunities to excel both in and outside the classroom.
The administration reiterated its commitment to working closely with parents, local leaders, and security agencies to safeguard the interests of students and ensure uninterrupted learning throughout the school term.
