Kampala, Uganda: Kawempe Muslim and Kampala Queens will battle for the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup title on Sunday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, with both clubs chasing their maiden crown in Uganda’s premier domestic women’s knockout competition.

The highly anticipated final pits newly crowned FUFA Women Super League champions Kawempe Muslim against a determined Kampala Queens side eager to end the season with silverware.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Kadiba, where a new champion is guaranteed to emerge.

Kawempe Muslim enter the final as favourites after an outstanding season that saw them clinch the FUFA Women Super League title and produce an impressive run to the cup final.

The Valley Warriors booked their place in the showpiece after dismantling defending champions Amus College 6-0 on aggregate, winning both semifinal legs 3-0.

Sunday’s encounter also presents an opportunity for redemption for Kawempe Muslim, who fell short in last year’s final after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Amus College.

Having eliminated the holders this season, the league champions will be determined to go one step further and complete a historic domestic double.

Kampala Queens, popularly known as the Queens of Soccer, are meanwhile preparing for their first-ever appearance in a FUFA Women’s Cup final.

They reached the final after a dominant 4-0 aggregate victory over Lady Doves, winning both semifinal legs 2-0.

Much of Kampala Queens’ hopes will rest on key performers Kamiyati Naigaga and Joanita Ainembabazi, who have played pivotal roles throughout the club’s impressive cup campaign.

Having narrowly missed out on the league title race to Kawempe Muslim, Kampala Queens view Sunday’s final as an opportunity to secure a major trophy and cap off a successful season.

The match is expected to showcase some of the finest talent in Ugandan women’s football, with both teams boasting a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging stars.

Interestingly, the FUFA Women’s Cup has never had a successful title defence since its inception, and neither of the finalists has previously lifted the trophy. That statistic guarantees a fresh name on the honours list regardless of Sunday’s outcome.
