Kampala, Uganda: The Government of Uganda has extended financial support to the families of three Ugandans who died in South Africa, with each family receiving Shs10 million in condolence assistance from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The support was delivered on Wednesday by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo, who visited the bereaved families on behalf of the President and the Government of Uganda to convey condolences following the tragic deaths of Edrine Kirumira, Joseph Ainebyona and Ronald Nasima.
Hon Kasolo described the contribution as a gesture of compassion and solidarity with the grieving families during their time of loss.
“On behalf of H.E. the President, I handed over a condolence contribution of UGX 10 million to each of the three bereaved families as a gesture of compassion and solidarity during this profoundly difficult time,” Kasolo said in a statement via his official X handle on Wednesday.
The Acting Foreign Affairs Minister said President Museveni shares in the grief of the affected families and remains committed to standing with Ugandans during moments of tragedy.
“While no amount of support can fill the void left by the loss of their loved ones, I pray that this gesture offers comfort and reminds the families that they are not alone,” he said.

The Minister prayed for the eternal repose of the deceased and asked God to grant their families strength, peace and courage as they navigate the difficult period of mourning.
“To the families of Edrine Kirumira, Joseph Ainebyona and Ronald Nasima, please accept our deepest sympathies,” Kasolo added.
The condolence support comes as government continues to respond to challenges affecting Ugandan nationals in South Africa following recent incidents that prompted the repatriation of hundreds of citizens.
Kasolo reaffirmed that government remains committed to supporting Ugandans both at home and abroad through diplomatic engagement, emergency assistance and reintegration programmes where necessary.
He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is continuing to work with other government agencies to support affected families and Ugandans returning from South Africa.
As of Wednesday, July 08, Uganda had repatriated a total of 880 Ugandan nationals from South Africa following escalating xenophobic violence targeting foreign nationals.
Since then, several government institutions have rolled out interventions to support returnees and families affected by the crisis, including humanitarian assistance, business empowerment programmes and diplomatic engagement aimed at safeguarding the welfare of Ugandan citizens abroad.
