Kampala, Uganda: Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has contributed Shs15 million towards the Ngo Clan’s cultural heritage fundraising campaign aimed at preserving and promoting the clan’s cultural values and indigenous knowledge.

The contribution was made during a fundraising gala held at Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Friday evening, where members of the Ngo (Leopard) Clan launched an appeal to raise US$1 million to safeguard the clan’s heritage for future generations.

Hajjat Namyalo’s donation comprised Shs10 million contributed on behalf of her mother, who belongs to the Ngo Clan, and an additional Shs5 million from her personally.

Addressing guests, Namyalo thanked Allah for the opportunity to participate in the event and applauded the Ngo Clan leadership for spearheading the initiative.

“This clan is part of my life because of my mother. I am proud to be part of this amazing Ngo Clan. This is a wonderful initiative, and I pray that Allah blesses it,” she said.

While commending the fundraising campaign, Namyalo urged the clan leadership to intensify mobilisation efforts to ensure more members actively participate in preserving their cultural heritage.

She noted that many members of the Ngo Clan were yet to be reached and encouraged leaders to broaden their outreach. “The Ngo Clan has many members, but not all of them have been reached. Let us intensify the mobilization so that everyone comes on board and contributes towards this noble cause,” she said.

The ONC Manager also stressed that the success of the campaign should not rely solely on affluent members of the clan. “Some people think only the wealthy should contribute, but that is not the case. Every contribution matters. Let us unite and work together to achieve our common goal,” Namyalo added.

The mega fundraising campaign seeks to mobilise US$1 million to finance programmes aimed at preserving the Ngo Clan’s cultural heritage, values and traditions, while promoting indigenous knowledge and ensuring that cultural inheritance is passed on to future generations.

Organisers say the initiative will support cultural education, documentation of clan history, preservation of traditional practices and other heritage programmes intended to strengthen the identity of one of Buganda Kingdom’s historic clans.

The event attracted clan leaders, cultural enthusiasts, dignitaries and members of the Ngo Clan who reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding Uganda’s rich cultural heritage through collective action and community participation.
