In Summary: A total of 193 Uganda Police Force officers have completed a two-month Basic Intelligence Course at the Police Training School in Kabalye, Masindi District. The pass-out ceremony also saw the commissioning of a Shs50 million admission ward donated by Centenary Bank to improve healthcare access for police personnel and the surrounding community.

Masindi, Uganda — A total of 193 Uganda Police Force officers Thursday completed a two-month Basic Intelligence Course at the Police Training School (PTS) in Kabalye, Masindi District, in an effort to strengthen intelligence gathering, crime analysis and policing capabilities.

The pass-out ceremony was presided over by the Director of Crime Intelligence, AIGP Christopher Damulira, who represented Inspector General of Police Abbas Byakagaba.

Addressing the graduands, Damulira commended them for their performance in skill-at-arms and crime analysis, highlighting the importance of the competencies acquired during the training.

He also expressed appreciation to President Yoweri Museveni for supporting the growth and development of the Uganda Police Force, including the implementation of the Sub-County Policing Model.

Damulira urged the officers to maintain high standards of discipline, strengthen collaboration with sister security agencies and prioritise human intelligence by building strong relationships with members of the public.

He emphasised that effective policing depends on reliable information, community cooperation and coordinated efforts to prevent and detect crime.

The training is intended to equip officers with intelligence-related skills that can support police operations and improve the handling of information used in crime prevention and investigation.

Centenary Bank donates Shs50m admission ward

In a related development, Damulira commissioned a newly constructed admission ward at the Police Training School in Kabalye, donated by Centenary Bank at a cost of Shs50 million.

He commended the bank for supporting the development of a permanent healthcare facility that is expected to improve access to medical services for police personnel and residents in the surrounding community.

The facility adds a healthcare component to the training school’s infrastructure, with the donation highlighting the role of private institutions in supporting public service facilities.

The ceremony combined the graduation of officers trained in intelligence work with the commissioning of a medical facility intended to strengthen healthcare access at the police training institution.
