Two men reported dead in a bar fight

KIRYANDONGO, UGANDA: Police in Kiryandongo district is still investigating circumstances under which two died died during a fight in a bar.

The deceased were identified as Francis Odong aged 23 and David Etiang aged 25 all residents of Padea in Kiryandongo district.

It is alleged that on Sunday night at around 11:30pm Odong and Etiang developed some misunderstandings while in a bar in Padea village which resulted to a fight where later on Etiang caught a stick and hit Odong on his head which resulted to Odong’s death.

Meanwhile residents after Odong’s death hunted Etiang and lynched him to death.

Francis Odong the Padea village chairperson says, after realizing that the conditions have worsened alerted police which dispersed the angry residents.

Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Regional police spokesperson has confirmed the incident and added that the investigations are on going.

“Two people have been confirmed dead one in a bar fight and another lynched by residents in Kiryandongo district and therefore am warning residents to avoid mob justice and always report to police in case of any crime in the area”. Hakiza said.

Kiryandongo district has received 3 murder cases in only one month.

On 30th December last year, 40 year old man identified as Joseph Lutaya a resident of Panyadoli village in Panyadoli parish, Mutunda Sub county in Kiryandongo district hacked his wife to death.

In early December last year, Muhamud Muzama a resident of Kiroko village in Kiryandongo district hacked his mother in law Alice Naguta to death accusing her of trying to dissolve their marriage with his wife Corolyn Kakai who had divorced.
