Oulanyah’s Body at Kololo for State Funeral Service

At Kololo, President Museveni is expected to preside over the State Funeral Service, with Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu the main celebrant.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The casket containing the remains of the former speaker of parliament, Late Hon. Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah has this morning arrived at the Kololo Independence Grounds for a State Funeral Service.

In the company of the guard of honour formed by officers from the Uganda Police, Oulanyah’s body left parliament chambers at Plot 16-18 at around 9 am this morning heading to Kololo grounds where the service will be held to bid farewell at the former speaker’s ahead of his Friday burial.

At Kololo, President Museveni is expected to preside over the State Funeral Service, with Church of Uganda Archbishop, Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu the main celebrant.

The traffic police on Monday evening issued traffic guidelines indicating that roads next to Kololo Independence grounds will all be closed off as the speaker’s body heads to the ground for today’s honorable funeral service.

Among these roads were, Wampewo Avenue, Elgon Terrace, Lower and Upper Terrace, all linking to the main route leading to the Kololo grounds.

According to the minister for the presidency Milly Babalanda, only 1,500 have been invited to attend the event at Kololo ceremonial grounds including MPS, Ministers, and family of the deceased among others.

After today’s service, Oulanyah’s body will be airlifted to Lalogi village in Omoro District to give chance to the local people to mourn for their great son and will be buried on Friday, April 8, at this ancestral home in Omoro.
