KAMPALA, (UG):- Former East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) candidate, Julius Bukyana is over the moon after he graduated with a Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from Nkumba University.
Bukyana, a senior journalist and communications professional, formerly with Next Media’s NBS TV and currently at Victoria University as a Public and Corporate Affairs boss was awarded the Master’s Degree at the University’s 26th Graduation held Saturday, October 26, 2024, at their main campus in Entebbe.
In a brief statement to DailyExpress right after his conferment of the Master’s Degree, Bukyana reflected on his educational journey, emphasizing the importance of professional diplomacy for Uganda’s international standing.
“Uganda’s diplomatic missions are headed by political appointments. For us to achieve our diplomatic objectives, Uganda needs to deploy career diplomats. This is the way to uphold Uganda’s sovereignty in diplomacy and global relations,” he said.
Bukyana’s graduation comes at a crucial time for the EAC which is facing numerous challenges, including political instability, trade barriers, and the need for enhanced regional integration.
But, the significant achievements in international relations and diplomacy, coupled with his practical political experience, position Bukyana as a formidable candidate for understanding and addressing the intricate issues facing the East African Community (EAC).
In his previous campaign for the EALA slot which he unsuccessfully contested, Bukyana stood out for his deep analysis of EAC issues, demonstrating a level of expertise that set him apart from his fellow candidates. His ability to articulate the challenges and opportunities within the EAC showcased his profound knowledge of international relations, signalling that he is well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to legislative discussions.
And as the EAC continues to evolve, the need for informed and dedicated representatives in its legislative parliament has never been more pressing. Bukyana’s vision and expertise could play a vital role in shaping policies that promote peace, security, and economic growth in the region.
