Accra, Ghana: Uganda’s St. Noa Girls Secondary School Friday sealed a spot in the final of the CAF Africa Schools Girls Football Championship after a dominant 2-0 semi-final win over Morocco, extending their flawless run in the tournament.
Representing the East African country in the girls’ category, St. Noa topped Group B with three consecutive wins, netting seven goals with clean sheets throughout the group stage.
The Ugandan champions on Thursday dispatched The Gambia 3-0, with Lillian Nabukeera scoring twice and Grace Kawino adding a third. Later in the day, they overpowered DR Congo by the same scoreline, thanks to goals from Brenda Nassaka, Lydia Namaseruka, and Kawino.
In the semi-final clash on Friday, Giovanna Aketowanga fired St. Noa into the lead in the first half before Namaseruka sealed the victory with a second goal after the break, earning the Ugandan side a deserved 2-0 win over Morocco.
St. Noa Girls now face hosts Ghana in the final, with no goals conceded and their eyes firmly set on the USD 300,000 championship prize, designated for school development and facilities.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ category, Uganda’s St. Mary’s Kitende exited the tournament at the semi-final stage following a 0-0 draw with Senegal and a narrow 6-5 defeat in the ensuing penalty shootout.
