Kampala, Uganda: The FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) has issued a series of stiff sanctions against Kataka FC, BUL FC players, and the latter’s head coach, Abbey Kikomeko, over unsporting behaviour in the recent violent incidents during FUFA Big League and Stanbic Uganda Cup matches.
In a statement released Friday, April 25, 2025, FUFA confirmed that Kataka FC has been punished for the physical attack on match officials during their FUFA Big League fixture against Blacks Power FC earlier this month.
The disciplinary panel sanctioned Kataka FC with a suspended two-point and two-goal deduction, warning that the penalties will be activated if the misconduct is repeated. In addition, the club has been fined UGX 2 million.
“The FDP sanctioned Kataka FC with a suspended two points and two goals deduction to be imposed if the sanctioned conduct is repeated. The FDP further sanctioned Kataka FC with a fine of UGX 2,000,000,” FUFA said in the statement.
The incident in question occurred when Kataka FC fans stormed the pitch and attacked match officials in a heated aftermath during their FUFA Big League match against Blacks Power FC, a scenario that drew widespread condemnation and raised fresh concerns over matchday security in the second division competition.
Sanctions for Kitara, BUL FC Players
Relatedly, three Kitara FC players, Titus Ssematimba, Henry Kaddu Patrick, and George Senkaaba, each received a two-match suspension across all FUFA-organized competitions. The players were found guilty of improper conduct around the 60th minute during the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter-final clash between Kitara FC and BUL FC.
“The FDP has sanctioned 3 Kitara FC players…with two match suspensions each…and each of the three players with a suspended fine of UGX 500,000,” FUFA confirmed.
The FDP imposed even heavier sanctions on BUL FC players and coaching staff following their behavior in the same match. Defender Walter Ochora was slapped with a 10-match suspension and a UGX 1 million fine for physically pushing referee Musisi Henry during the game.

His teammate Nicholas Mwere received a 10-match suspension and a UGX 1 million fine for the same offense, but, because he accepted the charge, apologized, and showed remorse, FUFA suspended two of his 10-match ban.
As a result, he will serve an immediate 8-match suspension, in addition to the automatic ban resulting from the red card he received during the match.
Coach Kikomeko Banned Six Months
In one of the harshest penalties issued by the FDP, BUL FC head coach Kikomeko Abbey has been suspended for six months from all football-related activities and fined UGX 5 million.
His charges stem from violent conduct towards a steward and threatening behavior towards match officials during the same Stanbic Uganda Cup fixture.
“The FUFA Disciplinary Panel also imposed an immediate six-month suspension from all football-related activities on BUL FC Coach Kikomeko Abbey for his violent conduct towards a steward as well as the violent and threatening conduct towards match officials,” FUFA said.
All the sanctions, according to FUFA, take immediate effect, as the football governing body emphasized its zero-tolerance stance toward misconduct that undermines the integrity and safety of football matches in Uganda.
