Pallisa, Uganda: The Woman Member of Parliament for Pallisa District, Hon. Kaala Kevin Ojinga Nnalongo, has confirmed that the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among will be the chief guest at the district’s belated International Women’s Day celebrations slated for May 30, 2025.
Speaking during her weekly press briefing on Thursday morning at her upcountry residence in Kawoken Cell, Hospital Ward, Pallisa Town Council, Hon. Kaala said the event will take place at Busitema University Pallisa Campus grounds under the theme of unity, empowerment, and inclusive development.
“This is a non-political event,” Hon. Kaala stressed, adding that all women in the district, including those with plans to contest politically, are welcome. “As hosts, I expect women to actively participate through plays, songs, group performances, and by raising key issues that affect them,” she said.
She praised the women of Pallisa for the peaceful conduct during the recent village and parish-level NRM structure elections. “Even in isolated areas like Obutet, Gogonyo, and Apopong sub-counties, no complaints came from women. That’s a true reflection of motherhood and responsibility,” Kaala said.
In her Mother’s Day message, the legislator saluted all mothers in Pallisa and called for unity in driving women’s economic empowerment. “As we celebrate motherhood, let’s also commit to building a self-reliant and prosperous future for all women,” she said.

Pallisa RDC Mr. Dhikusooka Magid, who also chairs the district security committee, assured that security preparations are underway. “Our officers, patriotism clubs, prison services, and women groups are already rehearsing to ensure the day goes smoothly,” he said.
Issa Emorut, Chairperson of Team Kaala, said logistics have been secured. “At least people will eat and drink. We’ve done our best to ensure the event is well-catered. Most functions end without a drop of water for guests, but not this one,” he noted.
Meanwhile, local artists urged organisers to ensure fair treatment. “Most times we’re asked to perform before the chief guest arrives. That needs to change,” said Apollo Wilson, a vocal artist.
Sylvia Asio, Akisim Sub-county councillor, also appealed for equal performance opportunities. “The Akogo group in my area is ready. If they don’t perform, it will politically affect me,” she said.
