Lugogo, Uganda: Victoria University tightened their grip near the top of the National Basketball League (NBL) table after beating Kampala Rockets 66-51 on Wednesday night at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, completing a season double over the capital side.

The Victoria Crocs, who edged the Rockets 51-48 in the reverse fixture, showed greater poise and control in the return leg to improve their record to 8-5, placing them second on the standings behind the red-hot Namuwongo Blazers.

Kampala Rockets entered the contest riding the momentum of a dominant 76-50 win over KIU Titans, but their challenge fizzled early as Victoria Crocs established a 29-22 halftime lead and never looked back.

Cedric Alema led the Crocs with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Cyrus Wobusobozi contributed across the board with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Chuol Nyuot anchored the paint with 7 points and 8 boards.

The Rockets, now 7-6, struggled for consistency and never found their rhythm despite brief bursts of energy.

Victoria Crocs, debutants in this year’s NBL season, have continued to win admirers for their disciplined defense, composure under pressure, and growing chemistry on the court.

Elsewhere, KIU Titans finally registered their first victory of the season after brushing aside fellow strugglers Livingstone 86-67.

The other fixture between Rezlife Saints and JKL Dolphins was postponed.
