Kampala, Uganda: The leadership of Uganda Law Society (ULS) under President Isaac K. Ssemakadde SC has honoured its Head of Communications, Adam Nuwamanya, with the “Radical New Bar Torchbearer Award” in recognition of his exceptional service, innovation, and professionalism in rebranding the legal fraternity’s public image.
The exceptional award was presented to Nuwamanya during the 23rd episode of the First Season of the RNBLive Series on June 19, 2025, coinciding with the Day of the African Child.
Nuwamanya, who has served as the inaugural RNB Publicist, was celebrated for his transformative efforts in repositioning the Uganda Law Society from its traditional structure to the dynamic and digital-facing Kololo Hill castle, now the official RNB headquarters.
In his citation, President Ssemakadde praised Nuwamanya for revitalizing the Society’s presence on digital platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), where ULS has re-emerged as a powerful and influential voice on legal and civic matters.
“Adam has not only rebranded our public image but has also repositioned ULS as a prominent voice of legal acuity in Uganda’s digital space. His creativity and digital mastery have captured the imagination of both members and the public,” said Ssemakadde.

Despite operating under staffing and resource constraints, Nuwamanya has been credited with creating high-impact content, leading training sessions on digital storytelling, and fostering cross-departmental accountability. He has also played a critical role in strategic planning and decision-making at ULS.
Notably, Ssemakadde credited Nuwamanya’s balance between professional dedication and fatherhood, especially to his twin children, positioning him as a model of compassionate and holistic leadership.
“He is not just a communications expert. He is a devoted father, a bridge-builder, and a cultural custodian. Even his fiercest critics acknowledge his warmth and approachability,” the RNB Chief wrote.
Nuwamanya’s involvement in curating the 21st #RNBLive memorial for Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o in partnership with Makerere University’s School of Literature was singled out as a demonstration of his intellectual depth and cultural fluency.

In his brief remarks on his X platform, Nuwawanya expressed utmost gratitude to the RNB Council led by President Ssemakadde upon the bestowed award. He wrote, “HISTORIC: I am not dreaming or hallucinating! I have been awarded the #RNB Torch-Bearer Award by my #RadicalNewBar Council, led by President @IsaacSsemakadde.”
The Office of the ULS President and CEO jointly commended the communications guru for being a key player in the Society’s growth trajectory and ensuring its relevance in Uganda’s civic and legal discourse.
