Kamuli, Uganda: The Territorial Police in Busoga North region have kicked off public order management drills to sharpen their preparedness ahead of the 2026 general elections.
ASP Michael Kasadha, the regional police spokesperson, told DailyExpress in an interview that the rehearsals started on Tuesday, September 9, at Kiwolera Army Primary School in Kamuli Municipality and will run until Friday, September 12, 2026.
Kasadha explained that the exercises are aimed at refreshing officers’ skills in crowd control, conflict resolution, and risk management to ensure effective operations during the electoral period.
“The exercise shall focus on refreshing skills of personnel in crowd control, conflict resolution, and risk assessment to ensure effective operations ahead of the 2026 general elections,” he said, adding that the drills being done include tactical maneuvers, the use of explosives, and the handling of protective equipment.
Police have advised residents living near the training ground not to panic, assuring them that the rehearsals are conducted under strict safety standards.
“Residents are advised not to panic but to go about their normal activities, as the rehearsals are carefully planned and executed with strict adherence to safety standards,” Kasadha emphasized.
