Kampala, Uganda: The Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) and Senior Presidential Adviser Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye has reinforced growing collaboration between key ruling party mobilisation structures after committing Shs10 million towards the forthcoming birthday charity run for Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The contribution, used to purchase running kits on behalf of the ONC, was unveiled during a Monday joint engagement with officials from the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), signalling a unified front amid past speculation of rivalry between the two offices.
The charity run, scheduled to take place on 26th April 2026 at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala as part of activities marking Gen. Muhoozi’s 52nd birthday, is being organised under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope” and will raise funds for vulnerable children across the country.
Namyalo was received by a delegation from the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) led by Secretary General David Kabanda, who outlined the purpose of the run.
“This run is for a cause,” Kabanda said, noting that proceeds will support children living in ghettos and those under the care of non-governmental organisations.
He emphasized that the initiative goes beyond celebration, positioning it as a national effort to uplift Uganda’s most marginalised children.

Kabanda used the platform to firmly dismiss claims of friction between ONC and PLU, and asserted that both groups are firmly committed to their shared mission. “There are no wrangles or conflicts between the ONC and PLU. We work together, and we shall continue to do so,” he said.

The engagement, attended by officials from both structures, was widely interpreted as a deliberate show of cohesion at a time when political observers have pointed to perceived competition between the two influential mobilisation outfits.
“Celebrating Muhoozi Is Very Okay”
Speaking at the event, Namyalo framed her contribution as both personal and aligned with her long-standing community outreach efforts. “Gen. Muhoozi is here to defend this country, and therefore, celebrating him is very okay,” she said.
She described her involvement in the charity run as an extension of her commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, particularly children.

Namyalo also highlighted her personal relationship with Kabanda, describing a longstanding bond that predates their current political roles, and referenced their shared efforts in supporting Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during the 2026 elections.
The Shs10 million contribution from ONC was seen as a strong endorsement from the Kyambogo office, adding momentum to the charity run as it draws closer.
With backing from influential political actors and mobilisation structures, the event is expected to attract wide participation from government, civil society, and the private sector.
The run will serve as both a fundraising platform and a unifying national cause focused on improving the welfare of vulnerable children.
